Kenilworth, NJ

History

Kenilworth, New Jersey, was incorporated in 1907, emerging from the larger community of Cranford. Originally a farmland area, it began developing in the late 19th century as a residential suburb, largely due to the expansion of the railroad. The borough was named after Kenilworth Castle in England, reflecting its founders' aspirations for a charming community. Throughout the 20th century, Kenilworth grew steadily, attracting families with its schools and parks. Today, it is known for its tight-knit community and suburban atmosphere, balancing historical charm with modern amenities, and it remains a desirable place to live in Union County.
